Yesterday was the sprints. First up was the qualifying which is a 200m time trial which every rider does. I was 5th rider up and my personal best was from Nationals in March was a time of 12.172 seconds. I qualified in a new personal best time of 11.627 seconds which is half a second off my original, so I was very happy with this ride! I qualified in 12th spot which put me in a position for a very hard for ride against an American with a time similar to mine. She ended up beating me on the line by a tyre width which ended my sprints racing. My team sprint partner Steph McKenzie, qualified in a hot time of 11.104 seconds (only 0.011 seconds off the Junior world record) to put her in top qualification spot. Since qualification she has advanced through to the semi-finals in which she will race today! Our boys team pursuit won the bronze medal in the ride off against Germany on the first night and Sophie Williamson also secured a bronze in a very hard and fast points race last night! So far 3 medals for New Zealand with plenty more races to come..COME ON NEW ZEALAND!
